A Distinctive, Life-Changing Education

鶹ý University embraces the idea that we all possess light, and that we pass it on to others. But that doesn’t tell you everything — such as how our home sits on an idyllic hill in the vibrant community of Springfield, Ohio, for example, or how our rallying cry is “Tiger Up®." Instead, it captures our core belief that people make the world brighter, starting with our students. At Witt, you will find mentors, advisors, and brilliant minds who put just as much into your success as you do. Why? Because we believe higher education takes both of us: Witt + You. Experience our community for yourself, one that enjoys a national reputation for excellent academic standards, service to humanity, and student success.

Witt by the Numbers

鶹ý was chartered in 1845 by Ezra Keller and a group of pastors who broke with the German church and created the English Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Ohio.

Mission, History & Traditions

From Myers Hall to the Kissing Bridge to an age-old academic Commencement ritual, 鶹ý is immersed in tradition. These traditions have been created by an inimitable history that began in 1845. Together, 鶹ý's history and traditions make the university distinctive in American higher education.
